JPasswords 0-3-0 Released!

The third edition of JPasswords is now available for download! Here is a list of the most important enhancements:
  • CSV Export and Import. Allows to make the content of your database available for other applications or import it from other applications. This important feature secures your investment you take into using JPasswords. Likewise you can more easily migrate from other password utilities; KeePass export files are supported and instantly readable.
  • Help texts for CSV functionality. Elaborated help panels aid you in understanding and performing CSV operations.
  • Selective export to encrypted files. Mark any set or group of entries and export it to a new or existing encrypted password database. E.g. it is now very easy to compile a new database from parts of an existing one.
  • Versatile list context menu. Entry browsing now owns a selection sensitive context menu which offers many related operations. Several newly integrated functions concern the handling of record selections and groups of records.
  • Automated software version and news check. Optional automated check for latest news and new program versions over the Internet. This way you won't miss any important news concerning data security or the next program release.
  • Customizable fonts and GUI-style. Are there ugly standard fonts on your system? Don't worry, here you can customize up to 7 display categories with your personal font settings! Additionally you can choose from all JVM built-in "look and feels" (GUI-styles).
  • Stability and usability improvements. Dozens of small improvements to GUI elements, display and IO stability. Look into change log for more details.

Note: Database format has not changed and relies on PWS-V2 (PasswordSafe Version 2). Application options will get reset to default values due to changed storage format.

JPasswords 0-2-0 Released!

The second edition of JPasswords is out! It comes with a host of refreshing enhancements. Care has been taken to ensure program quality, remove bugs and improve stability of various functions and GUI display. This is a list of the most striking new features:
  • Introduction of time management. Shows you record related time values and lets you set up an expiry date for a key.
  • Surview and identification of expiring keys. GUI listings show expiring entries in differing colors by two categories: Expired and Expire-Soon. A startup checker routine warns of expiring keys.
  • Text Find function. A side window lets you skip through the database and points out matching entries.
  • Content display filter. Has you database grown rapidly? The display filter function lets you quickly identify some entry categories. Currently available: Exiring, Imported and Modified entries.
  • Cryptological random generator. Improves the quality of random generated passwords.
  • URL capabilities. Connect to Internet file resources; allows you to address remote files in read modus, for FTP protocol also in write/update modus. (For security reasons it is not recommended to deposit password databases on publically accessible servers!)
  • New GUI languages available: French and Russian. (Thanks to our keen translators!)

Note: File format has not changed but a new option file will be created when using this version. Contents of the old option file gets lost due to changed storage format.
